Eat to Live Healthy


Healthy Recipes! Mmm! Now we're getting to the good stuff! Good food is for everyone, whether you are diabetic, need a low-fat diet, or just need help with your weight. But, keep it healthy, make food to live by. Someone once said to me, "Food is just fuel for our bodies, so what does it matter what I eat?"

It matters a lot!

All the nutrients our body takes from the "fuel" are what keeps us alive, rebuilds our cells, make our metabolism hum, and determines how healthy we are. Most of our vitamins and minerals come from what we eat, also fat, protein, fiber, and carbohydrates. Please see our Healthy Living Food Guide for more information on this. Recipes that are healthy, supply us with the "good" calories and nutrients our bodies require seem to have disappeared with our modern, fast-food diets. Ah, but it is so much easier to go to the drive-through. (A quote from Joe Pesci in "Lethal Weapon" comes to mind!) Ahem, to paraphrase: the drive-through is basically 100% empty "fuel", may taste good and fill the stomach, but gives little healthy nutrients and a whole lot of fat.

Healthy Recipes, for the most part, are simple to prepare, but do take some time. Ask Grandma, nothing is good for you, or tastes good, without a little TLC. (Time + Love = Cookin'). The good news? If you don't have a lot of time to prepare recipes, you can make them up the night before, or even make a whole batch up over the weekend and freeze individual meals for the next week. And, there are quick meals in the Guide, too.
